The device we recognize today (ostehvel) was created and patented in 1925 by Thor Bjrklund, a cabinetmaker from Lillehammer. Bjrklund wanted: Straighter, neater slices than a knife could provide. Thinner slices to help families stretch cheese during lean economic times. A tool that was simple, durable, and
